Every meeting with Jiří charged me with an enormous energy. He was an inexhaustible inspiration for me not only as a great conductor and inquisitive musician, whom I very often met at concerts as a humble listener, but also as a wise and kind person with a distinctive sense of humour. He was able to speak about his grandchildren with the same excitement as for example about Leoš Janáček. I immensely treasure the fact that I was in his “team” of singers for many years and that I had an opportunity to mature by his side.
Today´s sad news touched me very much and it is hard to believe that Dvořák´s Biblical Songs which we performed together in Munich only a month ago, brought to an end our journey together. Nevertheless it was a precious moment in life when a person on the wings of music experiences the exhilarating flight into the space somewhere between heaven and earth. I am immensely grateful to you, Jiří, I could be not only a witness but also a part of that.
