Ranging from Berio’s Folk Songs to sets by Bartók, Ravel and Montsalvatge, this collection provides a kaleidoscope of twentieth-century orchestral song composition. Live from Prague! Czech Philharmonic, Sir Simon Rattle and Magdalena join the celebrations of the Freedom & Democracy Day ans the 33rd anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. For the occasion, Magdalena and Sir Rattle as the Czech Phil season’s artists-in-residence have chosen songs by Maurice Ravel and Béla Bartók and the final symphony of Gustav Mahler—a hymn celebrating life and humanity.
